Who are they?
Christine Beatty served as the chief of staff from 2002 to 2008 to Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. She resigned in January 2008 after it was exposed that she and Kilpatrick had an extramarital affair and lied about the affair under oath.
She was investigated by the Wayne County prosecutor for possible perjury charges and a probe by the Detroit City Council in its settlement of a $8.4 million lawsuit.

Wayne County prosecutor, Kym Worthy, announced today that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty, with a combined 12 count indictment on perjury, obstruction of justice, and misconduct charges regarding the firing of Internal Affairs Deputy Chief Gary Brown and officer Harold Nelthrop for investigating the fabled Mannoogian Mansion stripper party where the mayor’s wife is rumored to have attacked stripper, Tamara Green.
Worthy told they must turn themselves in by 7am, tomorrow. If the Mayor and Ms. Beatty do not turn themselves, arrest warrants will be issued for them.
A perjury conviction could bring up to 15 years’ imprisonment and force Kilpatrick to relinquish the mayor’s office. The mayor Kwame Kilpatrick won’t give his resignation, despite charges.
